Frequently Asked Questions
  • When will I get my stuff?  Will I get my stuff by x date?
We usually pack your order and get it into the mailbox within 2 mail days.  Typically, Priority Mail takes 3-4 days.  However, we've had orders take 9 maildays or more.  We don't know why packages are delayed, we just know that we know that it has happened.  Our average box is received in less than 1 week.

However, we know that you want to know that you'll get your order in time for your next event.  Therefore, we highly recommend that you allow 2 weeks to get your stuff.  This will allow extra time for the mail to get there.  If you ask us whether we can "rush" your stuff, we'll tell you no.  We don't deliver your package, we rely on the post office to do that.  So, we can't make any promises about the service that the post office provides.
  • Can you ship a cheaper way (like Media Mail)?

The Goose tries as hard as possible to follow the rules.  A careful review of the US postal regulations would show that Media Mail and Bound Printed Matter is to be used for PRINTED materials and "media" (ie CD roms of info, diskettes of info, video tapes).  Blank, unprinted paper (ie die cuts) are NOT bound printed matter and are NOT media!  Cardstock samplers with printing on them...?  Technically, this might pass, but you and the Goose know that this is not following the "spirit of the law".  Each time the Goose takes a media mail or bound printed matter package to the post office, The Goose is reminded by the postal workers that ALL packages are subject to inspection.  Unqualified materials can be destroyed or returned.  If your package is one of the unfortunate ones that is inspected and declared unqualified, YOU will not have what you ordered in a timely manner, if at all.  Why take the risk for $1-2?  This stuff isn't THAT heavy and The Goose is certain that you wouldn't want to risk a 2 week or more delay over such a small amount of money.

If there were cheaper, legal, ethical ways of getting this stuff to you, rest assured, The Goose would do it for you.
  • Is The Goose "taking advantage" of me by offering products that "cost" $1 and selling them for $8?

Ahhh what an interesting question that has been raised several times recently (luckily, not directed specifically at The Goose, however, The Goose knows that she is included in the list of "conspirators" who are "taking advantage" of you).  This is a multipart answer.

1 - the TRUE cost of a chart is not $1.  The ribbon or whatever may cost $1, but there are many other costs not considered, in the $1, like paper for your chart, time to type the chart, skill involved in designing and developing a good chart, shipping, protective mailer, plastic bag to protect your chart, sheet protector for instant addition into your demo notebook, equipment/supplies necessary to make your chart the most professional looking (straight cut paper, no weak ink colors, no blurred images etc),...it goes on and on.  The Goose would love to hear from anyone who can truly make a high quality chart like The Goose's and mail it using USPS for $1!

2- Except for situations of extreme coercion, threat of physical harm or other criminal acts, only YOU can allow someone to "take advantage" of you.  The simple offer by The Goose or any other small business person cannot cause anyone to be "taken advantage" of.  If you feel offended by a product that is offered to you, simply DO NOT BUY.  Similarly, if the price is too high...you can either negotiate with the seller or choose NOT TO BUY.  This is part of the whole Free Enterprise system that is the basis of the American economy.

In most cases, there are many people you can buy your products from so you can choose to buy from one person over the other.  Consider service (speed at getting your stuff), quality, ability to know what you're buying before you buy it etc.

If you're not convinced, The Goose would have to ask you...is Walmart "taking advantage" of you when they sell you shampoo?  You know they're profiting off of that bottle of shampoo.  How about the grocery store that sells you the watermelon...are they "taking advantage of you" by profiting from that melon?  If you truly believe that profit is bad and should be avoided at all cost, then I hope you're growing your own vegetables and grains in the back yard (don't use any commercial herbicides or "miracle grow"...they're profiting from their research too...) and growing trees to build your house and furniture.  I suppose you bartered for your generator and walk to your neighbors to talk to them and trade services in exchange for letter carrying because you're certainly not using the internet, an internet cafe, US Mail or telephone (did you know that they're trying to make a profit too???).  I suppose your paper is made with pulp from the tree bark from your back yard trees since you can't buy paper either.  Pencil?  Must be coals left over from the backyard fire...  EEK...can you say "Laura Ingalls Wilder"?
